Leaf Drop Project
Anthropomorphize:To attribute or ascribe human form or behavior to (a god, animal, object, etc.)
Goal: Create a cartoon landscape drawing that will be used as part of the "gravity" tests. The landscape must look alive in the style of 1920s and 30s
Rubber Hose animation
1. Design your characters using red or blue pencil in your sketchbook. No textures, keep the drawings simple.
A. Tree:No leaves and no face on tree.
B. Leaf:Draw your leaf from 3 different angles, each leaf should be about the length of a quarter.
2. Ink your drawings using two different black pen tips. Thin lines on the inside and thicker lines for the outside shapes.
3. Scan both your tree and leaves in B/W, at 120 dpi. If you do not have a scanner take photos without any shadows and the photo angle should be looking straight down. After scanning/ photographing, move your drawings into adobe animate. Make sure that each item you upload is on a different layer.
The images shown below are to help you think about character design.
Watch the Video Below
The images shown below are an example of the final composition and it's
organization using the rule of 3rd's as described in class, this is what we
will be setting up in Adobe Animate for the final project.
The body of the Movie
should be set up as follows
1. Scene 1, Title Card:
A. 3 seconds long
B. Display your full name, and name for the cartoon, (You pick the name) Follow the rule of thirds for proper text placement.
2. Scene 2, Body of movie:
A. Before moving the leaf wait 2 seconds.
B. The leaf should wiggle as if in a light breeze and then pause for a second or two.
C. The leaf should begin to move again this time faster, it eventually is pulled from the tree. D. It must loop once and then go off the screen. Wait a second and then bring it back in at triple the size, it should sway a little, it can shrink a little as it sways to the ground and comes to a full and complete stop.
E. After the leaf has come to a complete stop, pause for two seconds before
cutting to the end card.
F. As the leaf is swaying to the ground your cloud should move across the stage slow and steady on a layer separate from the leaf, using a classic motion tween. I will demonstrate this process in class.
3. End Card:
A. 3 seconds long
B. Must say the end (or something like it). Follow the rule of thirds for proper text placement.
Here is a example of a completed, student made, leaf drop project.
