Parts 2 & 3 of the Walk Cycle
Part 2 of the Blink:
1. After you have drawn the 4 walk cycle poses, choose 3 of the images in sequence to use for a blink.
2. As you see below I have used the "contact", "down" and "pass" pose for my blink sequence.
3. For all 3 drawings I traced the originals, creating copies.
4. I lowered the eyelids half way on the first one, all the way on the second one, then raised the lids to half open once again on the third.(See sequence below)
5. These drawing can then be added to the walk cycle sequence.
Today in class
165 Students:
1. Take five sheets of paper.
2. Use the standard 3 hole punch that's on the back desk in the classroom, punch holes marking the top of the paper.
3. On only one sheet of the punched paper, measure 2" down from the top and draw a horizontal line that is parallel to the holes, use a fine point sharpie and mark your line. (Known as the 2 & 1 rule)
4. At the bottom of the page measure out a line that is 1" up from the bottom and mark with a sharpie.
5. The page with the marked black lines should be used as guidelines when drawing your character in the walk cycle poses. (See red pencil drawings above).
6. Follow the examples shown above and draw your character in the 4 poses. RED PENCIL ONLY. You must scan and test your walk cycle as a pencil test before inking the final drawings.

Homework Drawing,
1. In your sketchbook, work on creating a character for the walk cycle. Be prepared to show me 4-6 different variations of the character that will represent you in the walk animation. I will be looking for a simple character design, use animation pencils and no ink. Must be humanoid and look like you, try to avoid oversized capes and long tails.
2. Create a character page on one sheet of paper in the same way that the sack character page was designed. Use animation pencils only, no ink. See example below for the body positions.
(front, 3/4 front, profile, 3/4 back, back)
On Thursday we will look at the pencil versions of your character pages. If they look good you can ink them. After inking, scan and create a character spin, like you with the sack project.
