165 Students:
In your sketchbook, using your red pencil and the drawing techniques demonstrated in class, draw a caricature of yourself, four times on the same page. I will demonstrate inking techniques on Tuesday in class. Just in case you need some reminders from tonights class, check out the tabs at the top of the blog entitled "Caricature" & "Human Head" Have fun!

Ok, yes its strange, but after drawing myself in a fez I really needed to spin in an old TV set.

166 Students:
Go to the "Walk Fly Swim" tab at the top of the blog for drawing examples.

3/9/17 Homework

165 Students:
Looking forward to seeing you at Monster Draw tomorrow night!

*My students get extra credit for attending.

Weekend Homework:
In your sketchbook, full page, full body, using your red or blue pencil, draw yourself as an Anthropomorphic Anime style character. Try to create something that looks like you as an animal. Use two different pens and ink your drawings.

 Anthropomorphic characters
have always been part
of human mythology.

Today they are still with us
in popular culture

Yep, the one below is me.

2/23 Homework

165 Students:
1. Watch all the cartoons shown below, look at how the body's are built. In your sketchbook, try to copy some of the characters in the cartoons before you try drawing your caricature. For many of you this will be the first time trying this style.
2. In your sketchbook, using red/blue pencil, draw yourself full body as a UPA Style character. Add ink using two different pens, have fun, we will look at them in class on Tuesday. Below are many samples of the UPA Style.
3. On Tuesday we will continue working on the Leaf Drop animations.

Yep, its me UPA style, with a cone hat and a UPA style bird inside.

Here is the UPA concept art page that was considered in the 50's

166 Students:
On Tuesday we will look at your first concept sketches. Do not ink them, keep them rough so that they can be adjusted.

2/21 Homework

165 Students:
1.  In your sketchbook, full page, using your red or blue pencil, draw yourself as a Charles Schulz style character, full body, add ink using two different pens. Have fun, we will look at them in class on Thursday.
2. If you have not begun creating a studio title card for yourself, rough out a couple of sketches. Think of it as if you owned an animation studio, what would you call it and what would the logo be. Look at
last weeks post for some ideas.

Yep the one below is me!

The collection below is a fun bonus image I had in my collection of Horror icons as Schulz style characters.

166 Students:
1. For Thursday, work on putting together images of the characters and the backgrounds from your chosen movies.
2. Start making some sketches of the characters. As you do, think about the following.
