3/7/17 Homework

165 Students:
1. Please add the 4 action poses to the bottom of your character page, pencil only. It's ok to copy some of the poses from the blog.
2. In your sketchbook, on one page, draw 3, 2" x 3" rectangles. 
Each rectangle should be a different, pencil only, concept sketch which might serve as a backdrop for your sack jump background, for details on the sack project, go to the top of the blog and tap on the SACK DROP tab.
3. Thursday when you come in we will look at your background ideas.
4. Thursday you will have some time to finish your sack pencil rotation in AN (Adobe Animate)
5. Bring your rulers, white erasers and red pencils, I will demonstrate how to add perspective drawing to your work and share some special tips that focus on animation.
6. Please take a couple of minutes, go to the SACK DROP tab at the top of the blog and read all of the information about the sack drop project, jot down any questions you might have.
7. I will give out grades for the Leaf project.

*Since you are thinking about backgrounds I have included 3 very good videos about storyboarding and the artists that create them. The first two are Dream Works artists and the third is all about Pixar.

166 Students:
On Thursday at the end of class, we will look at your (as close to being fully designed as possible), pencil character page spins.

Tonights guest on Acme

Tonight we have Jeremiah again tonight, along with a guest artist - Ron Yavnieli. Ron is the creator and producer of a webisode series for Dreamworks T.V. called "Gorillaville" and will discuss how he got into animation and how his idea for Gorillaville came to be....

166 Students:

1. Please have your character pages loaded up onto your blog and up to ACME (When placing them on ACME make sure that the scans are good quality.

2. On Tuesday we begin animating after acme.

3. Please bring your final walk and jump movies from last semester to the broadcast. Please have it published as a .swf or .mov  file. If it is already uploaded onto the web that's even better, you can just give me the address.

Homework Drawing Projects

165 Students: 
1. In your sketchbook, full page, draw yourself as a zombie (Color is optional). 
Here is an example of myself as a Zombie.

2. At the very minimum make sure you have your red pencils for next Tuesday.
3. Bring in a picture of an U.S. president.... from before 1900. (It can be electronic)
166 Students:

 

1. In your regular sketchbook draw 

3-4 different versions of each animal 

using red/blue pencil.

2. In your watercolor sketchbook pick one version of each character and draw it in color.

3. Due on Tuesday: the 3-4 draft sketches and the final 3 color versions.

4. On Tuesday you will begin working on the character pages. The character pages are due at the end of class on January 23. We will begin working on the walk cycles on January 28, after our first ACME broadcast. 

*Note here the difference between realistic and cartoon versions of the same species as drawn by Chuck Jones.

 

This weekend is the field trip to the Cartoon Art Museum

If you are not able to join us for the field trip, next Tuesday, I will give you the make up assignment. 

Weekend drawing homework: Take two well known Monsters and create your own version of a love child between the two monsters, that creates a new monster with the characteristics of both. 

(Please do not just stick body parts together) 

Draw this full body in your sketchbook, use 

ink for final version, color is optional.
